I know that I haven't been writing much about me lately. I'm having a hard time putting stuff into words.
The good news is that I have been smoke free for about one week. Had to stop, there were no if's, and's or but's about it. My last visit to the ER was not a pleasant one. I was having a hard time breathing and my heart was pounding. The hospital doctor ordered every test imaginable to rule out a pulmonary embolism. Considering my history with strokes and antiphisiploid syndrome he said he just had to check. Turns out I was having an asthma attack and had some fluid in my lungs. Well, that's what they told me in the ER. I was admitted and after they had time to study the tests taken, it was determined I have the beginning of emphysemia. Except that I was discharged by my primary care physician before the pulmonologist got there to see me. I was given a puffer. My rheumi gave me the name of one he recommends. Okay, so here we go with yet another "ologist" and more meds. Just what I need.

I'm so sorry to hear you having another rough time with all this.
Congrats on being smoke free, honey I was told (again) to quit smoking.
I'll give you the run down real quick what's up with me. Before my sister Debby passed away on June 6th, I had stepped on cold cement in the garage, I heard 3 pop sounds.
Thinking I had broken more little toes, I babied this foot with my previous ortho shoe for broken toes.
After the second week, I had to go to my Doc this pain is unreal, he examined it, said he :thinks: it's a Mortons Nueroma.
I go to the foot specialist, my x-rays were clear as can be, no fractures, just a hook shaped spur, but that is nothing that would pertain to my pop sounds and the "bruising" on the bottom of my foot.
The :bruising: is from my cigerette smoking causeing the blood vessel to contract and hurt like you know what.(Raynards?) He was about the second Doctor who mentioned it to me.
He thinks either the stent that was put in my artery 2 years ago isn't working.
I TRULY need to stop smoking too, can you email me if you feel up to it, let me know how you got started and what are you doing about the urges to smoke?
I tend to smoke more when I am in pain.
I sure wish you luck Lu, lot's of good luck to stop and never ever lit one up.
Please take it easy, write if you can. Love Always,
Kathy
